One of the top Independent Schools in the country, South Hampstead High School is operated by the Girls Day School Trust and is often referenced as their ‘flagship’ School. The school had a series of poorly connected buildings within a tight urban site, requiring an unpicking of levels and massing to provide 10,500 m2 of accommodation within ½ hectare of site area.

Our design, which includes a new school entrance building, classrooms, a library, a music school and an indoor sports hall, represents a significant step forward in securing the school’s long-term future and maintaining its outstanding tradition of academic excellence.

The redevelopment transforms and upgrades the School’s buildings to an acceptable standard for a four-form entry secondary school. Designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, it achieves a 95% improvement from the School’s previous energy consumption and includes additional renewable technologies which contribute 20% of the School’s energy demand.
