The Somerset Road project for The All England Lawn Tennis Club replaces the Club's existing indoor tennis facilities and modernises the transport operations that happen from this site during The Championships.

Located across Somerset Road from the main AELTC site, Hopkins were appointed to design new Members' facilities with better connectivity back to the main site. The scheme comprises six indoor courts set beneath an undulating double-curving roof structure and is supported by changing facilities, bars and lounge areas, all designed to the Clubs' world-class standards.

Six outdoor clay courts are set in front of the new facility. Alongside the main building, these settle within the carefully planted landscape to create a feeling of playing tennis in an 'English Garden.' Beneath two of the clay courts, a new Players' Arrival area has been created, which will act as the reception area for all players competing in the annual Championships. This connects back to the main site via a tunnel crossing below Somerset Road.

Concealed underneath both the indoor and outdoor courts, an extensive car park is being constructed from which to operate the fleet of Championships vehicles whilst providing parking for Members. The project also includes important infrastructure for the wider site, helping to improve efficiency of the Championships operations.

The project is currently on site. We are working with Wilmott Dixon (Contractor), Cundall (Structure and Civils), ME Engineers (MEP), Rolfe Judd (Planning) and Applied Landscape (Landscape Design).
