Thom joined Hopkins in 2005 and was made a Director in 2023. Thom has particular experience in education and sports projects, and was Project Architect for the London 2012 Velodrome, overseeing the detailed design of this 6,000 seat stadium. He was also heavily involved with the legacy transformation works, which converted the Games–time venue into a community facility set within the wider Lee Valley Velopark.
His first project for the office was the refurbishment of the 1930s Wellcome Trust Headquarters which created new exhibition galleries and conference spaces. Thom has since worked on the refurbishment of the East Wing Tower for St Thomas’ Hospital in London, the Pottery and Stables Project at the Grade I listed Holkham Hall, and was part of the team responsible for delivering a new pavilion for Herne Hill Velodrome in south London.
More recently Thom has been working on the design and delivery of 6 new indoor tennis courts and associated Members’ facilities for the All England Lawn Tennis Club at Somerset Road, Wimbledon.
