Hopkins Team Shortlisted for Copenhagen Arena December 9, 2011
Hopkins have been shortlisted in the competition to design a 75 Million DK, 15,000-seat indoor arena in Copenhagen. The venue will enhance sport, cultural and city life in the Capital and serve as a catalyst for the new Ørestad Syd district near the centre of the city. A winning team will be appointed in April with the arena ready for use in 2015. Live Nation, the American company responsible for Wembley Arena in London and Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam signed onto the project as operator in February.
The arena is part of a larger master plan for the area completed in collaboration with the City of Copenhagen, City & Port Development and Realdania that seeks to create a well-functioning and varied new urban area in Copenhagen. The area will include housing and offices as well as an ice rink and new schools. Hopkins is teamed with Pöyry, Friis & Moltke, Arup, Rambøll and Jeppe Aagaard Andersen.
