Nottingham Trent University Project Wins Brick Award November 4, 2011
The Newton & Arkwright Buildings at Nottingham Trent University were selected as the 'Best Refurbishment and Renovation Project' at the 2011 Brick Awards ceremony held in central London on 2nd November, against a shortlist including St Pancras Station and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
The judges called the project "A Tour de Force crafted from existing retained buildings, the restoration meshes with the new build. Rebuilt with retained bricks, the resultant space is vibrant and works well with its surrounding context. Excellent restoration that reuses old bricks and matches in new. A stunning and consistent building that works beautifully well."
The annual Brick Development Association Brick Awards recognises excellence in design, aesthetics and construction using brick. It is one of the most widely respected design awards in the UK and is currently celebrating its 34th year.
