Sebastian Laan LomasHead of Sustainability
Sebastian’s architectural education began at the University of Cambridge, followed by the Centre for Alternative Technology and the University of Westminster. His qualifications have always had a focus on environmental and energy design, and he is also a Certified Passive House Designer.
As Head of Sustainability, Sebastian convenes the practice’s sustainability group which acts as a support network providing specialist insight and reviews to design teams. The group also disseminate and skill-share key emerging knowledge and technologies across the practice. Sebastian developed our in-house carbon and energy benchmarking database which was shortlisted for 'Sustainability Initiative of the Year' by the AJ100, and enables critical understanding of our buildings’ performance. He also established our company carbon foot-printing methodology, enabling the practice to have offset its measured emissions since 2019.
In his capacity as an Architect, Sebastian completed the Champagne Bar for Goodwood Racecourse which he was involved in from its inception in 2016. He was responsible for the day-to-day managing of the project through planning, detailed design, tender, and construction documentation.
Sebastian’s specialist education, research, campaigning, and industry experience influences the practice’s longer-term direction for environmental and regenerative design to maximise our projects’ responsiveness to the Climate and Ecological Emergencies.
