MOMA displays bathroom pods August 4, 2008

Hopkins Architects prefabricated GRP bathroom pods for Rice University in Houston, Texas, will have an illustrious first public display at New York's Museum of Modern Art, as part of Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling (20 July - 26 October 2008). The bathroom pod is exhibited in the Cellophane House by Kieran Timberlake.

The design has been developed as a sustainable and efficient means of providing high quality bathrooms in two new five-storey, 228-room student residence buildings for the campus, scheduled for completion in May 2009. The self finished interior of the pods is completely fitted out before arriving on site, resulting in a reduction in construction time which translates to an improved specification than would otherwise be expected.

The design has been developed with Linbeck Group LLC, Off Site Solutions, Kullman, and Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas.
