Brent Civic Centre Officially Opens October 6, 2013
The new Brent Civic Centre was officially opened on Sunday with a day of culture that saw some 5000 residents of the Borough enjoy festivities including sports, craft workshops, music, art exhibitions and venue tours. The day's activities culminated with the ribbon-cutting ceremony where Councillor Muhammed Butt, Brent Council's leader, and Councillor Bobby Thomas, Mayor of Brent were joined by 21 young ambassadors from across Brent's wards.
"The event was about bringing people together to celebrate this fantastic, state-of-the-art building, our vibrant borough and the local talent who performed on the day," said Councellor Butt. "It was a fantastic experience, all the local community came out, everyone really enjoyed the day and celebrated the work the council has done to make the Civic Centre a true community building."
Hopkins staff were on hand to guide people around the new facility, which allows the Council to realise its vision for a consolidated 'One Council' which houses their civic, public and administrative functions under one unifying roof, providing office space for 2000 staff.
